Inside Triathlon assistant editor Susan Grant reviews running gear from Pearl Izumi in this week’s edition of Girl Gear.
Pearl Izumi’s new line of running clothes for the spring and summer are the perfect combination of lightweight and hi-tech. With each piece under $45, they’re also a bargain.
Women’s Infinity Split Short ($40): I wore these shorts out on a trail run during a recent heat wave and was immediately impressed. While I would never run without any pants on (I’m not in college anymore), I sure felt like I was with these lightweight puppies on. The seamless UltraSensor Float liner is seal-pup soft, and the back zippered pocket fit my house key, a gel and some cash for a post-run Jamba Juice.
The lightweight woven shell on the Infinity short is snag-resistant (and made of 100 percent recycled polyester for all of you greenies out there). The split design of the short allows for freedom of movement as you scramble over rocks or for when you want to push the pace through the last mile.
Women’s Aurora Tank ($28): Sometimes you just have to stick with what works. I’ve been stuck on this Aurora Tank since I wore it to a track workout a few weeks back. The Aurora’s racer-back design and vented side panels kept me dry and comfortable even through a horrific set of 800s. But, vanity is thy name, so what really keeps me going back to this tank is the contoured design, which alleviates that dreaded “boxy” look so many running tops can create. I may not be the fastest on the track, but at least I know I am the most fashionable.
