USA Triathlon has selected 56 additional athletes to be members of Team USA for this September’s ITU Duathlon World Championship in Concord, N.C.

The extra slots were made available by the ITU to recognize the United States as the host country.

The lottery was open to those who competed at this year’s USAT Duathlon Nationals in Richmond, Va., and to those who were members of Team USA from 2006 to 2008.

USAT National Events staff conducted the drawing on June 30, selecting three athletes from each available age group. A total of 226 athletes put their names into the lottery.

With these selections, close to 400 athletes are now set to compete for Team USA at the ITU Duathlon World Championship, September 24-26.
