We chatted with Cheryl to learn more about the personality behind the beauty:
Triathlete.com: How long have you been competing in triathlons?
Cheryl: This is my third season racing triathlon. After competing in my first race, the Nautica Malibu in 2008, I crossed the finish line and was hooked.
Triathlete.com: What is your proudest accomplishment in the sport?
Cheryl: I think it’s a tie between finishing my first 70.3 in Cancun last year and winning my first race at the beginning of this year at the Palm Desert Tri.
Traithlete.com: What does it mean to you to move on as a finalist in the contest?
Cheryl: I am so excited to move on to the finals! I love Triathlete magazine and would be so honored to have the opportunity to be in the magazine…it would be a dream come true! I remember seeing the contest a couple years ago when I started in the sport, and thought that I should enter, who would have thought it would actually happen!
Triathlete.com: Do you have a background in modeling?
Cheryl: I did a little bit when I was younger, a REALLY long time ago, but not as an adult.
Triathlete.com: What do you think you’ll spend your $100 from TYR on?
Cheryl: I would love to get a couple new swim suits…a girl can never have too many!
Triathlete.com: What do you like to do for fun outside of the sport?
Cheryl: Wow, well between the two-a-day workouts and my work as an Interior Designer, it doesn’t leave me much free time. I do love to travel, which luckily triathlon allows me to travel and race in some of the most beautiful places in the world. I love to experience other countries and cultures. There is no place that I won’t visit if given the opportunity. I am also a huge yogi. I have been doing it for years, three days a week. It helps to keep me centered and it’s something I can do no matter where my travels take me.
