Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong finished the Livestrong Half Marathon in his hometown of Austin, Texas in a time of 1:22, according to his twitter.
Despite announcing in December that a knee injury would keep him from competing in a January triathlon and may require surgery, Armstrong appears to be on the mend.
Armstrong’s retirement announcement coupled with the lack of mention of any future triathlon competitions has led many to believe he may be retiring from competitive endurance sports all together. While the tone of Armstrong’s tweets throughout the weekend suggests he entered the half marathon just for fun, the fact that he is back to running may bode well for an Armstrong appearance in a future triathlon.
Another triathlete, American Desiree Ficker, took the women’s title in the marathon with a time of 2:50:35.
