The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, the eco-conscious independently-operated sun-drenched resort on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii, is proud to announce “Team Mauna Lani 2011”, a partnership with pro triathletes who will call Mauna Lani their Hawaii home and training base throughout the year.

Team Mauna Lani is made up of Mirinda Carfrae, Tim DeBoom, Belinda Granger, Luke Bell, Hillary Biscay, Maik Twelsiek, Samantha McGlone, Matt Lieto and local Hawaii talent, John Flanagan, Bree Wee, Penn Henderson and Rani Tanimoto.

These triathletes will not only come to Hawaii to compete in either, or both, the Hawaii Ironman 70.3 in June or the Ironman World Championships in October, but also will be hosting training camps and special events for newcomers to the sport, as well as specialized training programs for more experienced triathletes wanting to improve their knowledge and performance.

General Manager of The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, Brian Butterworth, said that “after having watched the Hawaii Ironman World Championships first hand for the first time several years ago, I was inspired by how this endurance sport challenges athletes to the core of their conviction. We are very excited to be part of Team Mauna Lani’s journey.”

Mauna Lani also offers its year-round Iron-Fit program providing one-on-one training and advice from industry-recognized trainers. The program includes a daily personal training session, daily use of a tri-road bicycle and a daily sports massage. Participants can access Mauna Lani’s leading-edge fitness center, 25 meter lap pool, private secluded beach for ocean swimming and nearby wide-open roads and hills for running, cycling and altitude training.

The Iron-Fit program is available from January to December 2011 with a minimum three night stay. Starting from $700 per night (single) or $1050 per night (double), plus taxes.
