Dibens scorched the Wildflower course last year, and not only won the race but set the all-time course record. She has already proven that she is in excellent shape this year as well but winning the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon and Ironman 70.3 New Orleans earlier this spring. Unfortunately, Dibens has contracted an illness and she will not defend her title at the Avia Wildflower Triathlon this year.
“I picked up a cold toward the end of last week. I’m not on my death bed, but I decided it’s not worth racing when I’m not 100%. I’m pretty disappointed because Wildflower is such an awesome race and I loved it last year. The women’s field is one of the best they’ve had in a long time. I’m excited to see who will win,” said Dibens.
When asked who she thought became the favorite with her withdrawal, Dibens said, “[Jodie] Swallow will be hard to beat. After getting my ass kicked in Clearwater last year, I wanted to race her again. The course also suits Virginia Berasategui and Magali Tisseyre.”
