Yoder, Jerdonek Clinch Columbia Tri Crowns

Andrew Yoder blazes to course record, while Lindsey Jerdonek takes the women’s title in the Maryland race.

With a commanding lead from the gun, Andrew Yoder, 22, of Columbia, Pa.,outdistanced runner-up James Cunnama (Normandy Beach, N.J.), to take the 2011 Columbia Triathlon title by more than three minutes. Yoder, who also won this race last year, crossed the the finish line in 1:49:51,and breaking the course record held by Chris Lieto in 2008. Yoder’s 54:32 bike split on the rolling, 41K course was the fastest of the day by nearly four minutes.

In the women’s race, 27-year-old Lindsey Jerdonek, of Washington, D.C. made her professional debut a memorable one with a 55-second win over runner-up Jasmine Oeinck (Boulder, Colo.). The 2010 champ, Laurel Wassner (New York, N.Y.), rebounded from a sub-par swim with the day’s fastest run (38:54) to round out the podium.
