Kiwi long distance triathletes Jo Lawn and Keegan Williams are racing Challenge Copenhagen this weekend.
Set in the heart of the beautiful Danish capital Copenhagen, the iron distance race will see a bunch of raw talent battle it out.
Seven-time Ironman New Zealand champion Jo Lawn highlights the women’s field.
Lawn will be eager to add another iron distance title to her impressive list of results, having already had a strong year with wins at Ironman Korea 70.3, Port Macquarie 70.3 and Busselton 70.3 while she was third at Ironman NZ in March.
She will face a tough battle against Australian legend Rebekah Keat, who is the defending champion. Dane Karina Ottosen will also be a dark horse who will undoubtedly be cheered on by the home crowd.
Meanwhile, fellow Kiwi Keegan Williams is hungry for the men’s win after finishing runner up at last year’s race. He’s coming off good form following a third place finish at Challenge Roth last month.
The inaugural winner from last year, Aussie Tim Berkel, is back to defend his title, as is Dane Jens Grønbæk, who finished third in 2010.
Other contenders are Dane Martin Jensen, who had to withdraw from last year’s race after two flat tires and late entry Brit Stephen Bayliss.
