The Reynolds Eight One is built with straight-walled rims and a fairly narrow brake track. Reynolds engineer Paul Lew says they used CFD software to tune the location of the swirl lip generator just outside the rim’s inner diameter to effectively trip airflow and delay stall until wider yaw angles.
