With the Ironman World Championships less than two weeks away, rumors of a Chrissie Wellington weekend bike crash were not taken lightly. But luckily the top Kona contender says she’ll be at the start line October 8, despite being bruised and battered (check @chrissiesmiles for some bloody road rash shots).

While riding with a group in Boulder this weekend, Wellington took a corner and went down hard. She tweeted, “Long story short: Front flat tyre, cornered, came off, nothing broken, very battered, bruised and bloody. But still full of fight.”

Wellington shocked the triathlon community on the race morning of the 2010 Ironman World Championship by announcing at the last minute she would not race due to an illness.

We’re wishing Wellington a full recovery and look forward to her fight on the Big Island!
