Emma Snowsill insists she still has what it takes to defend her Olympic title and will “race to win” the Sydney event that could book her a spot on the plane to London.

Without a major win for more than a year, Snowsill is under pressure to show selectors she has the right stuff to defend the title she won in Beijing.

And contrary to what many believe after her long absence from the winners’ circle, Snowsill maintains she still has the hunger to dominate world triathlon.

“I still believe my best race is ahead if me,” Snowsill said.

The 30-year-old said she would definitely start Saturday’s opener to the world championship series.

Despite a nightmare lead-in, the three-time world champion has vowed to give her all in the race, which will play a role in the selection of the Olympic team,

A kidney infection and a severe stomach bug has left Snowsill below par a week before the 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run race.
