The firefighters pictured are not among the 100 from around the world who will compete on Sunday. Rather, these are a few of the 600 area firefighting professionals who will work to control traffic and keep athletes safe on race day. They were set up at the expo on Saturday to showcase their commitment to the race - and to show off their Mini fire-mobile.

But the real party began following dinner, when the crowds moved to the Marketplatz (the village’s center square) to party down with a live band and what seemed an endless flow of German beer.
