Life Time Fitness has confirmed the 2013 LeadmanTri schedule will be made up of races in Tempe, Ariz. and Bend, Ore. The organization also says new venues will be announced in the near future.
The inaugural Tempe event will kick off the Leadman action on April 14, 2013 with a 125 kilometer-distance race. Athletes will swim 2.5K (1.55 miles) in Tempe Town Lake, bike 111.5K (69.28 miles) through the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and then run 11K (6.84 miles) on trails through Papago Park and surrounding areas. The swim and bike courses will take place on much of the same parts of November’s Ironman Arizona, but the location of the trail run is unique to the Leadman race.
This will be the second year that Bend will host its Leadman events. The Sept. 21 LeadmanTri Bend 250K course will feature a 5K (3.1 miles) swim in Lake Cultus, a 223K (138.57 miles) bike around dormant volcano Mount Bachelor and a 22K (13.67 miles) trail run through Tetherow Country Club along the Deschutes River. The course also features nearly 5,000 feet of climbing and a peak elevation of 6,200 feet ending in the Old Mill District of Bend. The Bend event also offers the 125K distance.
