Raña, Boterenbrood Win 70.3 Lanzarote

Spain’s Ivan Raña and the Netherlands’ Danne Boterenbrood won today’s Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote race in the Canary Islands.

Raña, who normally specializes in ITU draft-legal racing, combined a 22:17 swim, 2:27:43 bike and a 1:13:27 run to earn the 4:07:35 victory. Long-course veteran Ronnie Schildknecht (SUI) finished second, with Boris Stein (GER) rounding out the podium.

Boterenbrood took the women’s victory thanks to a 24:05 swim, a 2:44:55 bike and a 1:26:29 half marathon. Her finishe time of 4:40:05 narrowly edged out second-place finisher Sophie De Groote (BEL). Germany’s Sonja Tajsich earned third.
