Practice race skills. A good set in a stop-and-go pool, recommends Lance Ogren, swim coach at New York City’s Chelsea Piers, is to “accelerate to a speed much faster than race pace and then settle back into race pace without completely falling apart.” And don’t forget to practice sighting.
