Have you been keeping up on your New Year’s Resolutions? We’re giving away four of our favorite books from VeloPress to help you stay motivated for the upcoming year.

Today we’re giving away “The Power Meter Handbook” from Joe Friel. The book offers cyclists and triathletes a simple user’s guide to using a power meter for big performance gains.

To win today’s giveaway, we want you to tell us about your biggest beginner blooper.

Post it in the comments below and we’ll pick our two favorites to win the books. Entries must be posted by Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Noon PST. The winners will be announced on this page by 5 p.m. PST the same day. It is important that you check back to this post to see if you are a winner. We will not be emailing the winners.

UPDATE:

Congratulations to Stacy Larsen Lambert and Derick Page for winning today’s giveaway. Please email your address to Liz Hichens at lhichens@competitorgroup.com so we can get you your prize.

Stacy Larsen Lambert · Portland, Oregon

I was running around like a crazy woman pre-race and realize my tires need air. I was so amped up that I ended up ripping the stem off the tube when removing the pump. Oops.

Derick Page · Physical Therapist Assistant at Avenues Therapy Clinic

After gaining confidence in my T1, clipping my shoes in to my pedals and such, I arrived at the Smith Mountain Lake sprint triathlon late as I forgot to pack my bag the night before, thinking “I can do that in the morning’. Since I didn’t have time to warm up, I went ahead with my plan to clip my shoes in before like I had been practicing. As I ran out of T1 and hopped on my bike, I looked down to realize that I had clipped the shoes into the wrong side and decided to dismount right there (in front of everyone charging at me from T1) to switch the shoes. Lessons learned: have a list and pack your bag the night before. Arrive early enough to warm up and for the love of Pete, learn my left from right!
