It was announced today that the 2013 Endurance Live Sports Awards Gala, set for Feb. 23, will honor two-time Xterra world champion Lesley Paterson with the Off-Road Athlete of the Year Award presented by Powerbar.

“Lesley had an amazing 2012 season,” said Bob Babbitt, the host and founder of Endurance Live. “When she won the Xterra Off-Road Triathlon World Championship in 2011, she caught the leader, Melanie McQuaid of Canada, with less than a mile to go. A number of people wondered if Paterson’s come-from-behind win might have been a fluke.”

Paterson quieted all doubters with victories during the 2012 season at the ITU World Cross Triathlon Championship, the Xterra USA National Championship and again at the Xterra World Championship.

“It really is the most incredible honor to be recognized at Endurance Live for the blood, sweat and tears I’ve put into this sport for the past 17 years,” said Paterson. “I can’t think of a better way to cap off this past season!”

The 21st Annual Endurance Live Sports Awards Gala presented by Refuel | got chocolate milk?, dubbed “The Academy Awards of Endurance Sports” by Entertainment Tonight, returns to Club Nokia at L.A. Live on Saturday, Feb. 23. The gala reaches capacity each year with over 350 guests and honorees including elite runners, cyclists, triathletes and top endurance performers from the previous year.

Information and tickets are available online at Endurancelive.com.
