Injured Triathlete Completes Rock ‘N’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon

When Monique Kool, a 35-year-old mother, suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident, doctors weren’t sure she’d ever walk again. Before the accident Kool was training as a triathlete and had won her age-group at a triathlon. She wanted to participate in the Rock ‘N’ Roll New Orleans Half Marathon and her boyfriend, Nick Zaunbrecher, offered to push her wheelchair the entire distance and even helped her cross the finish line on foot.
