Felix Schumann of Germany descends the challenging mountain bike course ahead of Olivier Marceau of Switzerland and Tim Don of Great Britain at the 2012 Xterra World Championship in Maui, Hawaii. “After a shit swim I was moving through the field and was back in the top 10 of the race on the big dirt-road climbs,” Schumann says. “I was on fire there, and when it went back into the switchbacks, I could feel it all coming down to the run for me.” Schumann fell behind on the trail run, however, and finished 13th. (Marceau and Don finished 10th and eighth, respectively.) “With my first time on the new course, the start of the run quickly killed off all my ambitions,” Schumann says. “You have to save some more for that kind of climbing this run tortures you with!”
