Life Time Fitness has announced that it is partnering with Toyota to add another dimension to its series for the 2013 season.

In addition to the previously announced series’ prizes, three races will make up the Toyota Triple Crown and the winner will take home a $50,000 bonus and the title of Toyota Cup champion. The Toyota Triple Crown includes Life Time Tri Minneapolis (July 13), Life Time Tri Chicago (Aug. 25), and Life Time Tri Oceanside (Oct. 20).

Each of the three races will follow the iconic “equalizer” format, with the women starting a yet-to-be determined amount of time ahead of the men. The male or female with the lowest cumulative time (from the time the men start each race) for all three events will be named the Toyota Triple Crown champion and take home the $50,000 prize.

The addition of the Toyota Triple Crown brings the overall Life Time Tri cash purse is $500,000.
