Men’s Race
The United States’ Gavin Anderson took the lead position out of the swim with a time of 22:36. Great Britain’s James Hadley, Alexander and Great Britain’s Paul Ambrose followed at just over 30 seconds back. By the time the men reached the turnaround point on the bike, Alexander had taken the lead and while it looked like he might run away with the race, American Daniel Bretscher was working hard behind him. Alexander started the run with a slim 45-second gap over Bretscher. Despite the 70.3 Hawaii win and the effort on the bike, Alexander was able to post a strong half marathon. His 1:15:56 run split was enough to open up a larger gap on Bretscher and earn the 70.3 Kansas win. Bretscher’s impressive all-around day gave him second place less than 90 seconds later. Hadley held off a fast-running Jozsef Major (HUN) to earn third.

Women’s Race
Lidbury found the lead very early in the race. She exited the water in a time of 24:47, with the United States’ Missy Kuck, Jessica Smith and Mandy McLane following less than a minute later. Lidbury went onto post the fastest bike split of the women in 2:24:13. She went onto run a 1:24:14 half marathon and earn the Ironman 70.3 Kansas victory, one week after finishing second at Ironman 70.3 Raleigh. The United States’ Danielle Kehoe had an impressive run to finish in the runner-up spot six minutes later. McLane finished third.
