The Challenge Family announced today that its marquee race, the Challenge Roth triathlon, has sold out for 2014 in record time.

According to the press release, just under 4,000 race entries were eliminated in under four minutes on Monday, July 22. The coveted relay team slots disappeared in 50 seconds, while the individual slots allocated for German athletes were gone in just over two minutes. The individual entries reserved for international athletes sold out in just over three minutes.

Challenge Family CEO, Felix Walchshöfer, was excited about the quick sellout.

“No other race has sold this many slots in just 3:15, we’re truly humbled by the passion triathletes have for Challenge Roth and thank everyone for their support,” he said. “We also appreciate that there are many disappointed athletes who weren’t successful, and we’re so sorry for this. However, we hope everyone understands that we aren’t able to make more places available as we will not compromise on quality by overcrowding.”

The last chance to get into the 2014 Roth race will come on December 6. The Challenge Family will give away a spot as part of its Christmas Charity Fundraiser. Learn more about the race at
