The drama of the inaugural Ironman Canada in Whistler played out against the backdrop of the picturesque mountain sports Mecca in British Columbia, with 28 professional triathletes tackling a difficult course with cool, idyllic conditions. As the defending Ironman Canada champion, Matthew Russell’s Quintana Roo Illicito occupied the first spot in transition. Russell, who finished second, said the Whistler bike course was the hardest Ironman course he had ever ridden.
