An interesting sequence of events played out at the Ironman 70.3 Brazil finish line in Brasília over the weekend. France’s Jérémy Jurkiewicz made his way down the finish chute and appeared to think he had the win easily in his grasp. He stops to celebrate with some fans before realizing that Brazil’s own Igor Amorelli was sprinting down the chute in pursuit of the victory. As Jurkiewicz realizes that his win may be in jeopardy, Amorelli shows a bit of sportsmanship and retreats to let Jurkiewicz take the win. Ultimately Jurkiewicz earned the victory in 3:52:40.3, with Amorelli finishing second at 3:52:42.0.
