The appeal of competing with a season full of fitness brought several top names out to today’s Ironman 70.3 Miami in southeastern Florida. In the end it was Ironman 70.3 World Championship runner-up Terenzo Bozzone (NZL) and Life Time Tri Series runner-up Helle Frederiksen (DEN) who claimed the victories.

Men’s Race
Bozzone was sixth out of the water (24:09), second off of the bike (2:03:33) and first at the finish line thanks to a race-best 1:11:16 half marathon. His 3:41:17 finish time was enough to beat out the Czech Republic’s Filip Ospaly by two minutes. Ospaly competed behind Bozzone all day and had to settle for second despite an equally impressive (1:11:42) run segment. Germany’s Nils Frommhold had a well-rounded day to earn the final podium spot. Leon Griffin (AUS) was fourth, with Ben Collins (USA) finishing fifth.

Women’s Race
Frederiksen dominated the competition in Miami. She was first out of the water by a minute (25:26), had the fastest bike time (2:15:23) and then posted a solid run (1:20:19) to earn the 4:03:38 victory. Hungary’s Erika Csomor finished second at 4:11:48, with Ireland’s Eimear Mullan claiming third at 4:12:39. Belgium’s Katrien Verstuyft (fourth) and Canada’s Lisa Mensink (fifth) rounded out the top five.
