French triathlon star Laurent Vidal has woken from an induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Vidal’s fiancee, and fellow ITU athlete, Andrea Hewitt rushed to his bedside at a hospital in Montpellier, the south of France.
Vidal, 30, was revived by firefighters after suffering chest pain while training at a swimming pool in France.
He was placed in an induced coma for 48 hours, but woke yesterday and tweeted: “Hello world”. He also posted a message on Facebook that translates to: “Thank you for all the positive energy you send me. I’m in good hands.”
