On a stormy day in Austin, Texas, Americans Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins extended their leads in the Life Time Tri Pro Series with wins at the LifeTime Tri CapTex race on Memorial Day.

Australia’s Todd Skipworth led the men out of the water in a time of 18:12. Dye, Hunter Kemper (USA), Barrett Brandon (USA) and several others were close behind. Dye immediately quick control, with Ben Collins (USA) and Kemper chasing. Dye turned in by far the fastest bike split of the day at 55:21 to earn a lead into T2. He followed the blazing bike with a 34:40 run to claim the 1:51:41 win. Collins earned second at 1:52:48, followed by New Zealand’s Michael Poole at 1:54:03.

It was a fast swim for the women, with super swimmers Sara McLarty (USA) and Lauren Brandon (USA) exiting the swim together at 18:19. Haskins followed in third at 18:25, with contenders Helle Frederiksen (DEN) and Alicia Kaye (USA) following in fourth and fifth, respectively. The wet conditions affected the women’s field, with both Haskins and McLarty reportedly crashing on the bike course. Haskins got back up and continued racing, while McLarty was not as lucky and had to pull out of the race. Haskins found her way to the front of the race with last year’s series winner Kaye. Haskins overcame the tough day and earned the win at 2:00:52. Kaye followed at 2:01:30, with Frederiksen earning the final podium spot.

According to the @LifeTimeTri Twitter account, the age-group race was suspended in the middle of the event due to inclement weather.
