Women’s bike shorts/chamois
Bike shorts lined with chamois provide added comfort and protection for your explorations on the road, helping you ride stronger for longer. Separate from the traditional bike shorts are bib shorts, or shorts held up with straps over your shoulders. Thanks to these straps the shorts don’t have a waistband, making them more flattering and comfortable, the chamois stays in place, and they come up much higher on your torso, eliminating the need to constantly pull up the back of your shorts. Betty Designs makes women’s specific cycling and triathlon apparel that bring fashion and comfort to your longest rides.
Helmets are a must for every female triathlete. The Specialized Women’s Aspire helmet has the HairPort SL fit system making the helmet ponytail compatible and easily adjustable for on-the-go adjustments, leaving you headache free and well protected.

Spandex can be scary; however, many companies are creating women’s specific triathlon apparel to ease that fear. It’s important to look for apparel that will leave you comfortable and confident come race day. SOAS racing only makes women-specific triathlon and cycling apparel, including various flattering and fashionable combinations of shorts and tops for race day. Our favorite are the tri tank and shorts, which feature an elastic-free waistband for greater comfort and a more flattering and feminine look. Skincare is often overlooked; however wearing sunscreen is as important as wearing your helmet. When buying sunscreen makes sure it is broad spectrum, meaning it protects against both UVA and UVB rays, and has an SPF of 30 or higher. Endurance Shield, created by professional triathletes, offers a sunscreen that is both broad spectrum and SPF 45. The sunscreen doubles as a light moisturizer, keeping you protected from the sun and wind on the course.

Run shoes can be the difference between a great run and a terrible one, which is why it’s important to work with someone who has the knowledge to suggest a training shoe compatible with your gait, such as your local running store. When it comes to race day, you want a shoe that you can slip on and go, and the Saucony Type A6 does just that. This lightweight and responsive neutral racing flat has water drainage ports and a loop along the heel making it easy to quickly slip on in transition.
Wetsuits provide buoyancy, warmth and better positioning in the water – making you faster. A proper fitting wetsuit should be snug, but not so tight you have trouble breathing. The wetsuit will loosen up once in the water. Blueseventy’s Sprint Full Suit provides the confidence and buoyancy needed for a fast and comfortable open water swim without the price tag. Blueseventy’s “Femme Fit” sizing offers more women’s specific wetsuits and sizes than any other brand, making this a viable option for women.
